This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do with the Noms API, websites, and related services (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service, and the terms defined there have the same meaning here. By using the Service you agree to this AUP. The lists below are examples, not an exhaustive catalogue — conduct that is harmful, unlawful, or abusive is prohibited whether or not it is named.
The goal is simple: keep the Service reliable, lawful, and fair for everyone who uses it.
Accounts, keys, and access
- Keep your API keys confidential and do not share them outside your organization.
- Do not create multiple accounts, or use another person's account, to evade quotas, rate limits, bans, or pricing.
- Do not attempt to access accounts, data, or parts of the Service that are not yours or not made available to you.
Prohibited uses
You may not use the Service to:
- break any law, regulation, or third-party right that applies to you;
- infringe intellectual-property, database, privacy, or other rights;
- distribute malware, or engage in phishing, fraud, or deceptive practices;
- harass, harm, or endanger others, or promote unlawful or dangerous activity;
- present the Data as authoritative medical, dietary, allergen, or food-safety advice, or rely on it for such decisions, without independent verification and appropriate disclaimers (the Data is provided "as is" and may be incomplete or inaccurate); or
- misrepresent the Service, or imply that Noms endorses, certifies, or guarantees your product.
Service integrity and anti-circumvention
You may not:
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to discover the source code or non-public workings of the Service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or breach or circumvent any security, authentication, rate-limiting, metering, or usage control; or
- interfere with or disrupt the Service, or impose an unreasonable or disproportionate load on it (including denial-of-service behavior).
Fair use, rate limits, and quotas
Each Plan comes with rate limits and quotas described in our pricing section. You agree to stay within the rate limits and request quotas of your Plan, and not to circumvent, probe, or overload our rate-limiting, metering, or billing controls. We may throttle, suspend, or contact you about traffic that threatens the stability of the Service.
Data-use restrictions
The Data returned by the Service is aggregated from third-party and publicly available sources and is licensed to you for use within your own applications, subject to your Plan and the "The data and your license to use it" section of the Terms of Service. You may not:
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Data as a standalone dataset, database, or feed, or as a substitute for the Service;
- scrape, bulk-extract, or systematically harvest the Data, or use it to build, train, or seed a competing dataset or model; or
- exceed the caching or retention limits of your Plan, or retain the Data after your subscription ends.
Caching windows, retention rights, and any redistribution rights are defined by your Plan; broader redistribution is available only under a negotiated Executive Chef contract.
Security and responsible disclosure
Do not attempt to breach, probe, or test the security of the Service without our prior written permission, and do not access data that is not yours. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it privately and promptly to support@noms.sh — we treat security reports as urgent, for every Plan including the free tier, and we will not pursue good-faith researchers who follow responsible-disclosure practice and give us a reasonable chance to fix the issue before any public disclosure.
Enforcement
If we believe you have violated this AUP, we may — depending on the severity — warn you, throttle or rate-limit your access, suspend or terminate your account or API keys, or take any other action we consider appropriate, including reporting unlawful activity to the authorities. Where it is practical and lawful, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the problem first; serious or repeated violations, and anything that threatens the Service or other users, may be acted on immediately.

Language
This Policy is published in English and in Spanish (a Spanish version is available). The English version is the working reference for our global developer audience; for a consumer in Chile the Spanish version governs, and in case of any discrepancy the Spanish text prevails for that consumer.
